Where to use multimedia-based content?

This project is about multimedia-based content and learning. Multimedia is a catchphrase and has gained in importance in the context of distance learning. Learners who had to pursue their learning activities at home were happy about every learning unit that contained multimedia material instead of boring text.

The question in this context is: How is multimedia-based content useful for learning?

There exist several approaches or points of view.

Distance Learning

Multimedia -based content

Multimedia -based content is increasing in the learning process.

In this way of delivering of content, multimedia-based content is one possible approach. Distance learning uses – without doubt – technology in the frame of learning. This approach means to use electronic devices (Desktop PC, Laptops, Tablets, etc). Using these devices enables the display of videos, animations, pictures, virtual labs and some more.

Flipped Learning

With the term “Flipped Learning” we address the “Flipped Learning 3.0 Framework”. This is based on the 187 global element of efficient Flipped Learning. These elements are structured into 12 different fields, and one of them is technology. Multimedia-based (and interactive) content is a column in the Flipped Learning 3.0 Framework.

Traditional Classroom Teaching

You may use multimedia-based content for presentations (in lectures) as well as a tool for cooperative learning of the learners (you must care for the necessary devises). In any case, multimedia-based content is an added value for the teaching results. You should prefer to use this kind of content in active learning settings.

Active Learning

Multimedia-based content can be implemented as an activity into lessons or may be used as an interactive resource. The experience of 40 years of teaching taught me that the more active the learners are during lessons interacting with the content, the higher is the learning result’s level.
